Light Lines
Light Lines is part of two series that complete the project Light Arranged by Chance. In this series a piece of 10 x 8 inch colour transparency film moves back and forth on a motorised tray in a light proof box. The lid of the box comprises of acid etched 1mm x 4mm rectangles. Coloured light is systematically fired though each rectangle. The process involved in the making of each line is identical but chance determines the resulting image. In total each image is made up of 11500 flashes and the resulting image resembles the collection of data such as DNA. Light in this series appears as information that could be used to gain a more detailed understanding of its source or a code that can be used to reveal the design of something previously hidden from view.
